Most packaging prepress is managed for high-speed long runs with a major packaging converter, and time and money prohibit breaking in ahead of the scheduled production run to print sample packages. What often happens is that companies use a small printer for their marketing samples, later to find the marketing people scratching their heads when the samples don’t look anything like the final printed production packages. Because the files were color separated by two different companies, one a gravure-packaging printer and the other a quick-print offset printer, it should be no surprise when the results are different.
SGS can produce any-size print runs of production press quality, accurate sales samples. Our color management techniques and years of on-press experience ensure that your brand’s integrity is always maintained on your sales samples or comps. Using the latest technology on the market, SGS provides a turnkey digital sample production service to our clients. With the latest inkjet technology from HP, Epson, and Mimaki, along with automated cutting and finishing from Esko, we create labels, cartons, displays, pouches, boxes, or anything you can think of to try out new designs or to quickly get samples exactly where and when you need them. We also use an extended color gamut to simulate client branded colors digitally. When set up in-line with a digital die-cutter, we can also die cut intricate shapes using a supplied CAD file. Because the entire process is digital, there is no waiting for a traditional die to be produced. Using our closed loop color management system, the same artwork file that produces the production package can also be used to produce the marketing samples. With no film, plates, or physical die to manufacture, we can produce brilliant looking samples in just hours instead of days.
